I can’t sleep. Was just out in some rough part of town with a gal. She went in a random bar to use the bathroom before we left.

Meanwhile, I sat on the patio. I pulled a chair away from a half empty table then sat in it looking at my phone. A pretty big guy walked over 5 mins later or so and told me he was saving those chairs for his friends. I calmly told him half the table was empty and the people sitting there didn’t say anything when I took it. He got loud in the city and went crazy. I stood there staring him dead in the eye without flinching and we were nose to nose. I saw the open chin but just didn’t throw the punch. After a short stare he grabbed the chair and walked off with me just standing there mad dogging him.

I’m 17 190ish he was prob late 30s mid 200s. No excuse tho, still should have thrown the punch but I didn’t. I legitimately can’t sleep, I’m so ashamed for just freezing and staring at him angrily.

Sounds like it was his duty to throw first as he was the one who felt wronged (over you “taking” a chair of his. Laughing over someone wanting to fight over something this stupid lol). He also had backup and you didn’t. You stood your ground despite being outsized and outmanned when he decided to make a non issue an issue. You’re also a child legally and he was a grown man. You also got the Lenny “no-liability” clause since you didn’t throw first. Just imagine potentially getting into legal issues over that idiot. Im not even gonna ask if you know how to fight. Im assuming you don’t, because then you wouldn’t feel insecure since you’d know you did the smart thing and could’ve kicked his ass. And if you don’t know how to fight, you really shouldn’t. I’ve been in similar spots and did the same thing. Years ago I stood up for a buddy drunk who was being shaken down by 5 PMs while we were waiting for a bus at like 2am. Can’t fight for shit, but I stood my ground and let the PM know I wasn’t afraid. That alone is enough to make most people back down, because most people are cowards and most people can’t fight for shit either. I sure as fuck didn’t feel bad. Defused a bad situation. Glad we didn’t get robbed or get our asses beat. You didn’t get beat up and didn’t get robbed and didn’t give the guy anything. You got nothing to be ashamed over in my books.
