Just finished podcast 58 myself in work. Cynthia and her punkrock statement is still hilarious. To think she was serious is crazy but after all she was getting plastic bags put over her head for money. Everyone that enters the piss, has some serious mental problems, except Liz aka meg griffin. Yeah I’ve been going on a Delray Misfits rewatching/listening binge too. It’s sad to see all the hopes and dreams that Lenny, Robzilla even Jason and Andrew had but will never happen.

I wonder if Andrew, in the back of his mind, hoped the DRM would become big enough YouTube celeries that they’d be able to quit their day jobs and do gym stuff full time. Maybe if World Gym didn’t close they could’ve had a shot at something who knows. Unfortunately, I think if they ever got that big they’d probably break up anyway because of fragile egos and disputes over money. I could easily see the Cresva Crime Family hiring lawyers to make sure Janoy got a bigger slice of the pie unfortunately. Oh well it’s all piss under the bridge anyway. Now all we have are reruns of old episodes =/

I agree. Jay had his funny moments but he would say the stupidest most cringe inducing shit. Like the first few podcasts he’d start by saying “suck dick” like he was trying to make that his catchphrase

Yeah they really could have taken off if they had stayed consistent. A few things led to their down fall:
- World Gym Closing
- Jay talking about Brad’s kid
- Fans turning on Jason (or Jason becoming more annoying rather than the underdog we all supported in the early days)
- Big Lenny’s laziness
- Rumors of Big Lou threatening to or actually trying to sue Andrew on behalf of Big Lenny
Could have blown up and become big time - but that’s life.

Another thing is none of the misfits understood the internet. Lenny had terrible instincts in terms of self promotion and he was too lazy, stubborn and disorganized.
Andrew’s quality over quantity approach was better. But he clearly didn’t care about the channel blowing up.
I would also add Lenny losing all his gains to your list. Sure his physique was terrible because of the gut. But he was one of very few tall guys to achieve freaky mass like that.
For example his interview on rxmuscle he looked like some fat guy that didn’t lift weights. I genuinely believe if he was the 300 lbs ripped hard version from the early world gym days he would have exploded in popularity after that video.
