Lenny should have done it once he knew he was getting kicked out of his mom’s house. He could have moved in with Jason, giving him a place to eat sleep and grow. Lenny could have coached Jason and disciplined him enough to finally get him shredded for the ruby, whilst filming ments 24/7.
