Too young to have been around for when it happened live. I wonder what was going through the heads of those who saw it in the moment. Kinda menty thinking about cookie cutters at home probably terrified that there was a terrorist takeover happening when in reality it was some guys dicking around huehuehue.

Wasn’t born yet unfortunately. Still quite menty after looking it up. Will never find culprits unless they confess at this point. Law enforcement useless after the first few months unfortunately.

I wonder how many people they told after they did it. I’d want to brag to everyone but telling too many people would have got them caught.

Statute of limitations has to have run out on this, if one exists. I’d come out the next day after it expired and brag about it.

((they)) say that they caught them: “The authorities found John R. MacDougall, formerly an operations engineer at the Central Florida Teleport uplink station. Since hacking was a relatively new crime, his punishment was ultimately minimal: he paid a $5,000 fine, was put on probation, and had his amateur radio license suspended for a year.” https://allthatsinteresting.com/max-headroom-incident
